Prop 8 and African-Americans

Demographic FACTS:

California's population is:
59.8% White American,
12.3% Asian American,
6.2% Black or African American,
0.7% American Indian,
3.3% mixed, and 17.3% of some other race.
35.9% are Hispanic or Latino (of any race).

We keep hearing in the media how 70% of black voters voted for Prop 8, but we never hear that they are only 6.2% of the population. Please explain to me how 6.2% can pass any piece of legislation without the remaining 93.8%?

The real reason this keeps coming up is because the media keeps alluding to this myth that "Black People" solely elected Obama and that African-Americans have this enormous political power that can decide any election or vote.

Please learn about this thing called math!

---

That being said...should the 70% of 6.2% of African Americans be ignored. NO!
Massive amounts of outreach should be done. Gay activists need to get in those black churches and talk to people. This probably would have been done had they not gotten Patrick Guerriero (former exec director of Log Cabin Republicans - because we know how successful that group has been - ugh!) to lead the fight against Prop 8.

Like all things, the fight is not over. We have to continue to support the President-elect, and fight Prop 8.

Hope springs eternal

It's the day after the election, and like most, I still can't believe it.

Truth and virtue triumphed over lies and hate.

America has rejected the conservative philosophy and propaganda. America has rejected John McCain and his Bush policies. America has rejected the absurdity of this country personified by Sarah Palin. The bitter, venomous PUMA's were overwhelmingly defeated because truth outshines lies.

But even though we won, it's not the time to rub it in. Because even though McCain/Palin and PUMA people don't realize it. Our victory is their victory. We will create a better world, and they will also enjoy the benefits. But wouldn't it be even better if they could heal from the hate of their own creation and join us in building up the world?

YES WE DID!

We changed the country and we will change the world.

To all those that said we couldn't,
to all the PUMA that said we wouldn't,
to all those that stood in our way,

YES WE CAN? YES WE DID!

Election Day

Today is the day. Will this country change course or make the same mistake it has the past 2 elections? Today we choose our path; today we choose our destiny.
