Why it's time for a party split.

Regardless of who wins, Obama or Hillary. It is time for a party split. If nothing else, this race has shown that there is something very wrong within the democratic party. Hillary supporters have very different values than Obama supporters and we do not need to be in the same party. Over the past few months, I have seen multiple posts from Hillary supporters that have made me question why we are all trying to gather under the same banner of "Democrat" when we clearly are political enemies.

Ex.:
Today, I voted for my president, Hillary Clinton. In my opinion, President Clinton is the only candidate worth voting for; she is our only hope for functionality, stability and progression.I don't believe in candidates who say one thing and then do another come campaign time. I don't believe in candidates who attend Christian churches even though they are Muslim. I don't believe in candidates who want to eradicate a woman's RIGHT to choose what is best for HER body. I don't believe in candidates who deny the rights of same sex couples. I don't have faith in the candidate who refuses to tell his daughter about gay people [Obama].Let's face it;Hillary Clinton is the only candidate who hasn't let us down. Hillary is the only one capable of actually changing our nation for the better. As a woman, who has seen her fair share of that glass ceiling, I'm sick of this boy's club of a nation. I voted for Hillary.

What is wrong with Democrats when we have allowed people within our own party to resort to Republican slash and burn tactics? What has happened to the Democrats when religous bigotry has become allowable? What has happened to this party when lying has become allowable just to win a race?

There was a time when attacks like this would have been unacceptable. The author would have been yelled at until his/her ears were bleeding because attacks like this were expected from Republicans but were off limits to Democrats. We would have NEVER allowed ourselves to stoop to this level.

What's even more discusting to me, is that most of bigoted comments I've seen have come from fellow LGBT people! People that are supposed to pride themselves on openess, diversity and tolerance. But more and more I've seen comments on myspace and facebook like:

The African-American community, by in-large has made their votes count for the candidate they feel best stands for them. We the GLBT* community, owe it to ourselves to support and vote for a candidate that has STOOD with us, MARCHED with us, and FOUGHT for us.
----------
So once again, African Americans and others of color aren't really part of the LGBT community. Didn't we cover the exclusion of LGBT people of color a few years ago? Wasn't it on the cover of every LGBT publication at one point? Clearly some people haven't learned and will never learn.

For those of you that are NOT aware:

#1 Discriminating against a person due to their religion is against Democratic Party values. If you feel that this form of discrimination is okay, then either the party platform needs to be changed, or you need to leave the party.

#2 Obama is a Christian, even though this shouldn't even be an issue, because it doesn't matter and has only been made an issue in an attempt to appeal to prejudice against muslims. Muslims are just as much a part of the Democratic Party as every other religion and as much as atheists are.

#3 Every single Democrat that was running for President is Pro-Choice.

#4 Obama and Hillary got the same HRC score on gay rights: 89%.

#5 If you have to resort to these tactics instead of posting about the ISSUES, maybe it's because you don't understand the issues, or because the person you are backing isn't worth voting for.

Regardless, it's time for something to happen within the party. If Obama wins, we need to purge the party of so-called "conservative democrats" and all the values associated with that and "old Washington" politics. If Hillary wins, then Obama supporters need to leave the party and create something that returns to our beliefs that have recently become tainted and dilluted by people we really shouldn't be associated with.
